Marrakech will be the starting point of this Erg Chegaga Desert Tour. On the first day of our desert journey, we will pass through the dramatic landscapes of the mountains to the Onilla Valley, formerly known as the caravan trade route between the desert and the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, admire great examples of Moroccan architecture, such as the old Berber villages. One of these is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site Ait Ben Haddou.
After visiting the most interesting Kasbah in Morocco Ait Ben Haddou, we travel through a very beautiful valley known as the Valley of the Palm Groves. The Erg Chigaga desert tour gives you the opportunity to try camel riding, climb the highest Sahara dunes and watch the sun sink on the horizon, admire beautiful views of the desert and desert landscapes, and spend a night under the stars if the weather permits otherwise in a nomad tent.

The highlight of our adventure was definitely the evening spent under a blanket of stars, where the vastness of the night sky felt surreal against the quiet of the desert. Our stay in the cozy, traditional tents provided an unexpectedly charming touch and made us feel right at home after each exhilarating day. One minor suggestion would be to offer a bit more variety in the evening meals, but overall, the experience was a fantastic blend of serene rides and unforgettable nights.

From the moment we saddled up for the camel rides, we knew this adventure was going to be unforgettable, with the vast Erg Chegaga desert stretching out like a canvas under the sun. Each night, we marveled at the starry sky while sharing delicious tagines that truly captured the flavors of Marrakesh in Morocco.

Our journey through the desert was nothing short of magical, with evenings spent under a blanket of stars that felt almost surreal. We reveled in the delightfully authentic Moroccan cuisine, savoring tagines and fresh bread around the campfire after exhilarating camel rides across the Erg Chegaga dunes. One small suggestion would be to include more opportunities to learn about local customs during the trip, as it would enhance the already rich cultural experience we enjoyed.

Our family had an unforgettable time exploring the Erg Chegaga desert, where the camel rides were a highlight, especially under the breathtaking starry nights. The only improvement would be more time to soak in the serene beauty of the dunes, but overall, it was an adventure we won’t soon forget.
