Take advantage of being on the heights of the old fortifications to admire this beautiful view of the Grund district located in the lower city of Luxembourg.

You are now taking on the most beautiful balcony in Europe! Just that! It was the Luxembourgish writer Batty Weber who said it.

The 3D printed statue you see here is the work of the Luxembourg artist Serge Ecker. The creation of Luxembourg is strongly linked to the legend of Mélusine who was the partner of Count Sigefroi.

This small bridge in the old fortification spanning the Alzette allows you to reach the Grund district.

Here you are in the heart of the Grund district, in front of Neumünster Abbey. In 1547, the Benedictine monks transformed the old Saint-Jean hospital into a new abbey, because theirs had just been destroyed.

The monumental gate that you see on your left is the Jacob Tower, also called Dinselpuert.

We are now surrounded on three sides by the Alzette. It is the Rham plateau, now accessible to the public after 5 years of restoration work.

Now take the free Grund lift which will allow you to climb effortlessly to the Saint-Esprit plateau.

You arrive at the judicial city of Luxembourg. In 1234, you would have arrived at the heart of the Convent of the Holy Spirit, on the square of the same name.

A word about the statue you see in the center of the square. It represents Grand Duchess Charlotte.

Here is the Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg! It was built in the early 17th century, when the city belonged to the Spanish Netherlands, to serve as a church for the Jesuit college.

We now arrive at Constitution Square, located on the former Beck bastion. From here you have a superb view of the Pétrusse Valley and the Adolphe Bridge.

The beautiful 16th century Renaissance building you see there is the Grand Ducal Palace. We are right in the heart of the old town.

Here you are in Luxembourg's favorite square, which is nicknamed the “Salon de la Ville”. The Place d'Armes, lined with cafes and restaurants, is certainly the most pleasant in Luxembourg.

You now pass the neo-Romanesque church of Saint-Alphonse. Founded in 1856, the history of its construction is strongly linked to the controls of the city by the Prussians who did not let the architects follow the original plans.

We are now taking the new big glass lift in Pfaffenthal. What a great way to encompass the whole landscape than to travel in a glass elevator!

Here we are where it all started. In the year of Grace 963, the Count of Sigefroi, a descendant of Charlemagne, acquired this rocky promontory from Saint-Maximin-de-Trier Abbey and established his castle there.

Here you are at the entrance of the famous Bock casemates. The most famous attraction in Luxembourg City, they attract more than 100,000 visitors per year!
