Tour Plan

Kruje Castle
After breakfast drive to Kruja, centre of Albanian resistance against the Ottomans under our National Hero Scanderbeg. He kept the Ottoman armies from crossing into Western Europe for 25 years, thus earning the title “Athleta Christi” awarded by the pope of the time. We will visit the Skanderbeg Museum one of the best in the country and a rich Ethnographic Museum with almost all items being original from the end of the 19th century.

Old Bazaar of Kruja
Finally we make our way through Kruja’s famous Bazaar full of traditional handicrafts. this is a unique opportunity for you to watch the craftspeople making the products inside their workshop.

Traditional Lunch in Preza castle
Preza castle is one of Skanderbej's medieval strongholds. nowadays is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in central Albania. We can enjoy an Optional traditional lunch where we will try some delicious byrek, village sallads, Imam bajalldi, lamb and other regions recipes.

Durres seaside town
After the visits continue to Durres one of the oldest towns in Albania and the first and perhaps the most important of the Greek colonies in the country. It was founded at Epidamnus in 627 B.C. by Greeks from Corcyra (present-day Corfu) and Corinth. Greek and Roman authors called it "the Admirable City" for its temple, statues, and other monuments. However, only a few remains remind us of this city’s glory days, mainly due to earthquakes and, also the fact that Durres has been continuously inhabited through time. Therefore it has been transformed accordingly.

Durres amphitheater and walls
We will visit some of the remains such as the amphitheater of the 2nd century AD with around 15000 seats, the Roman forum, the archaeological museum with a magnificent collection of marble and pottery peaces from the very ancient times to later, the Venetian tower the outer walls of ancient Durres.
We have refreshment at a panoramic bar before we return to Tirana

Our family had a fantastic time exploring charming villages and stunning landscapes just outside of the capital. The drive was smooth, and we loved the mix of history and natural beauty, especially the views from the hilltop fortress. While a couple of stops felt a bit rushed, the overall experience was engaging and gave us a memorable glimpse into the region’s culture.

Exploring the stunning landscapes of Preza and Kruja during our daytrip from Tirana was a highlight of our trip. We loved wandering through the historic bazaar in Kruja, where the vibrant colors and local crafts felt alive with culture. The only downside was that we wished for a bit more time at Durrës to soak up the sun on the beach after a day filled with sights.
