Nam Khan River Kayaking and Tad Sae Waterfall from Luang Prabang full day tour
This tour will serve different activities based on 2 different seasons: high water season and low water season. It will be much fun and exciting during the high water season when the waterfall is flowing, but dirty roads can be more challenging. So it depends on your preferences to choose the one that best suits you.
Hereunder is the detail program for each season.
High water season, August to January:
At the departure time around 8 am, you will be greeted and picked up at your hotel’s lobby in Luang Prabang. You are then transferred to the Nam Khan River.
Once you arrive there, you will embark on a boat to cruise to the Tad Sae Waterfall which flows directly to Nam Khan River. Coming to this waterfall, you can not only enjoy the fantastic beauty of it but also go swimming in this natural pool. Especially, this waterfall is a popular destination of elephants, so you can see real elephants there and take photos of them.
After relaxing with a refresh swim, you will get on the boat again to head towards our kayaking location where you will be equipped with safety stuff to start your kayaking journey through stunning panoramic views of green jungle mountains and Lao life. You will stop to have lunch, and then continue paddling. It will be very exciting when you kayaking through sections of rapids. This journey will take you approximately 3-4 hours to finish the 20km (12 miles) kayaking. It will depend on your kayaking ability and other situation.
In case you are really good at kayaking, you can have an extension for even longer kayaking from Ban En (25 km).
Low water season, February to July:
This full day kayaking trip is not available during the dry season due to low water levels and impassible sections. You can consider the half-day kayak option for some kayaking. Please check with us for details.
* Tad Sae Waterfall is low or dry from February to August
The trip ends around 5 pm at your hotel.

Meeting / Pickup

Meet on location: This experience has no pick-up service, customers have to make their way to our meeting point.

Please Note

The pickup and drop off is available for hotels in Luang Prabang city central only. Other locations are subject to the availability and will incur the supplement surcharge.
Kindly present at the lobby of your hotel 15 minutes prior to the pickup time.

Cancellation Policy

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 2 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 6 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 0% if booking is cancelled 1000 days or less before the event

We found ourselves gliding effortlessly along a serene river, surrounded by lush greenery that seemed to enhance the peacefulness of the moment. The highlight was undoubtedly the stunning waterfall, where we took a refreshing dip after our kayaking adventure, though the trek to reach it felt a bit longer than anticipated. Kayaking along the Nam Khan River was an unforgettable experience, with the serene surroundings and gentle currents making it easy to forget the business world for a day. The stunning Tad Sae Waterfall was a highlight, although we did wish we had more time to explore the area and take in its beauty without feeling rushed.
