Jungle Trek to Kuang Si Waterfall from Luang Prabang full day tour
This full day tour will take you to some destinations. The time in each destination can be flexible as your request as long as it doesn’t affect the whole plan.
The total trekking distance is about 9 km (5.5 mil) with medium difficulty. The trail can be slippery when it’s wet.
At the departure time about 8 am, you will be greeted and picked up at you hotel’s lobby by a local tour guide and a driver.
You will be transferred to the nearby valley located at the southeast of Luang Prabang. Arriving at the valley, you will head to the Long Lao Village which is the starting point of your coming exciting trekking tour.
Before beginning trekking, you will spend time walking around the village to explore its lifestyle and culture. This village is inhabited by Khamu and Hmong people. You can observe their daily activities and even talk to them with the support of the guide. In addition, in the village, you will see a work of the Fair Trek project, which is a beautiful clay-built bungalow. It is used for overnight tours to experience local village life and culture.
After exploring the village, you continue the trekking journey by getting into the mountainous Lao countryside of Luang Prabang. On the way, you will go by the orchards, rice paddy fields, and vegetable gardens before reaching mountains with fairly wild jungle scenery and some graded climbs.
You then will take a rest to have lunch.
After lunch, you will start your afternoon adventure by trekking to the crystal clear Kuang Si Waterfall. You will trek along an exciting forest trail to the beautiful and refreshing pools of Kuang Si Waterfall. Arriving here, you will enjoy yourself with plenty of time swimming. In addition, in the Kuang Si Waterfall Park, you will be taken to visit the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Sanctuary. Here, you will be given a lot of useful and interesting information about the Asian sun and moon bears as well as the Free the Bears protection program. Moreover, you will be welcome to support the project with a donation or by buying a "Free The Bears" T-Shirt.
Finishing discovering the park, in the late afternoon, you will back to Luang Prabang. On the way, you will pay a visit to an interesting small Hmong Museum built by locals to show their life and culture.
The tour ends when you arrive at Luang Prabang around 5 pm.

The trek through the jungle to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfall was a highlight of my trip to Luang Prabang in Lao People’s Democratic Republic. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with nature and witness the impressive bear sanctuary, which made the experience even more meaningful. The transportation to the waterfall was comfortable, though I did feel the journey could have been more organized at times. Overall, it was a day filled with adventure and beauty, and I left with some unforgettable memories.

The trek took me through lush jungle paths, and the vibrant wildlife kept me entertained along the way. Reaching the Kuang Si Waterfall was like stepping into a postcard—absolutely stunning and perfect for a refreshing dip. While the transportation was generally smooth, the initial drive felt a bit long; nonetheless, the bear sanctuary was a heartwarming stop that made it all worthwhile.
