David Gareja (Georgian: დავითგარეჯის სამონასტრო კომპლექსი) is a rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex located in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia , on the half-desert slopes of Mount Gareja on the edge of Iori Plateau, some 60–70 km southeast of Georgia's capital Tbilisi. The complex includes hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories and living quarters hollowed out of the rock face.
Part of the complex of David Gareja (Bertubani Monastery) is located in the borderline's s zone between Georgia and Azerbaijan and has become subject to a border dispute between Georgia and Azerbaijan.[1] The area is also home to protected animal species and evidence of some of the oldest human habitations in the region.

Exploring the charming streets of Tbilisi and savoring the exquisite wines of Kakheti was a delightful experience, though I did find the pace a bit rushed at times.

Diving into the heart of Georgian culture was the highlight of our journey. One evening, we found ourselves sipping velvety red wine from Kakheti while gazing at the stunning backdrop of Kazbegi, and the sunset painted the mountains in hues of orange and pink—absolutely magical! Our accommodations in Tbilisi were cozy and perfectly located, allowing us to easily explore the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Though the itinerary was packed with amazing sights, we did feel a bit rushed at times, especially during the wine tastings. Still, the friendly guides made every moment enjoyable and shared fascinating stories about their heritage. Overall, it was a fantastic way to immerse ourselves in the charm of Georgia, and we’re already dreaming of our next trip back!

The overnight stays were a highlight, allowing us to soak in the ambiance of quaint accommodations and wake up to breathtaking views. While some of the travel times between destinations felt a bit lengthy, the stunning scenery made it worthwhile. We left with a deeper appreciation for the unique culture and landscapes that unfolded around us. Overall, this experience exceeded our expectations and enriched our travels in ways we hadn’t anticipated.
