We will start our day leaving Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt towards Lake Llanquihue, the second largest lake in the country. From here we will visit the beautiful city of Frutillar, founded by German settlers who settled in farms near the bay to engage in agricultural activities. We can still contemplate the German colonial urban style in this place where the peaceful country life, cheerful gardens, colorful houses and tea rooms are mixed. Here we can enjoy southern traditions, since Frutillar perfectly reflects the history of German settlers throughout the region. We can see it in its architecture, in the roses introduced in the gardens and typical gastronomies.
We can visit the Lake Theater, one of the largest and most modern in South America, and the German Colonial Museum, to understand more about the history in the area (tickets not included). After the visit, we will be returning to our selected hotels in Puerto Varas.

I was truly captivated by the diverse landscapes and experiences packed into these 13 days, from arid deserts to breathtaking fjords. While the accommodations were generally comfortable, I found a couple of them a bit lacking in charm, but that didn’t overshadow the wonders I discovered along the way.
