Tbilisi (English: /təbɪˈliːsi, təˈbɪlɪsi/ tə-bih-LEE-see, tə-BIL-ih-see;[7] Georgian: თბილისი [tʰbilisi] (About this soundlisten)), in some countries also still known by its pre-1936 international designation, Tiflis[8] (/ˈtɪflɪs/ TIF-lis),[7] is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Between 1801 and 1917, then part of the Russian Empire, Tbilisi was the seat of the Imperial Viceroy, governing both Southern and Northern Caucasus.

    Day 2 Tbilisi city tour

Old Tbilisi (Georgian: ძველი თბილისი, dzveli t'bilisi) was an administrative district (raioni) in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, from 2007 to 2013. Although the term "Old Tbilisi" has long been used to denote a historical part of the city, it was only in 2007 that it became a distinct administrative entity to incorporate several historical neighbourhoods formerly included in the districts of Mtatsminda-Krtsanisi, Isani-Samgori, and Didube-Chughureti. The district was abolished in 2013, with its territories allotted to several other divisions of the capital.

The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri (the left tributary of the river Terek), at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbek.

    Day 5 Chachuna and Vashlovani

Chachuna Managed Reserve is located in the extreme south-eatern part of Georgia, on the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan in Dedoplistskaro municipality. The Managed Reserve is mainly represented with arid and semi-arid types of flora and fauna. Unity of landscapes and vegetation characteristic to floodplain and arid-semiarid systems contribute to diversity of fauna.Introduction of unique flora and fauna characteristic to arid and semi-arid ecosystems is rather interesting for visitors. There are arranged so called “glancing means” for bird observation.

Exploring Georgia’s stunning national parks with our family was a delightful experience, especially the moments spent birdwatching among breathtaking landscapes. While the meals were generally fantastic, we found that some dining options could have used more variety to keep things exciting.

I spent 11 unforgettable days immersed in the vibrant birdlife of several national parks, with the highlight being an early morning when I spotted a rare species flitting among the trees. The accommodations were cozy, though at times the lack of Wi-Fi made staying connected a bit tricky.

As I wandered through the diverse habitats over the course of this eleven-day experience, I found myself captivated by the vibrant chorus of birdsong that filled the air. One morning, I stood quietly at the edge of a serene lake, watching a pair of herons gracefully dance across the water—an image that will stay with me long after my trip. The accommodations were comfortable and well-situated, allowing for restful evenings after full days of exploration. While the guides were generally knowledgeable, I occasionally wished for a bit more depth in their insights. Overall, this journey provided a refreshing escape into nature, rich in both beauty and tranquility.

We had an incredible experience immersing ourselves in nature while spotting a variety of bird species in several stunning parks. One highlight was enjoying fresh local cuisine during our meals, particularly the hearty stews that truly reflected the region’s flavors. While the guides were knowledgeable and passionate, there were a couple of days that felt a bit rushed, making it hard to fully soak in the breathtaking surroundings.
