Why we love it?

This private half-day tour in Marrakech offers an immersive culinary experience starting with a guided walk through the vibrant spice souks and food markets of the medina. Your local tour companion introduces you to the fragrant stalls filled with cumin, turmeric, ras el hanout, cinnamon, and saffron, explaining their uses and the history behind the spice trade. After exploring the markets, you head to a traditional riad kitchen where a local chef leads a hands-on cooking class, teaching you to prepare a slow-cooked tagine, hand-rolled couscous, Moroccan salads, and finish with mint tea and pastries. Itinerary

Meet at MARRAKECH HOTEL OR RIAD

Stop 1

Your morning begins with a pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech — if your accommodation is inside the medina and vehicles cannot access it, we will arrange a meeting point just a short walk away. Your dedicated local tour companion will walk you through the vibrant spice souks and food markets of the medina, introducing you to the extraordinary ingredients that give Moroccan cuisine its depth, colour and aroma.

You will visit the spice stalls where mountains of cumin, turmeric, ras el hanout, cinnamon and saffron fill the air with intoxicating fragrance. Your companion will explain how each spice is used in traditional Moroccan cooking, help you choose what to take home and introduce you to the vendors who have been trading here for generations. You will also visit the fresh produce market and the olive stalls — a feast for the eyes as much as the senses.

From the market you head to a traditional Marrakech riad kitchen where your hands-on cooking class begins. Under the guidance of a passionate local chef you will learn to prepare a classic Moroccan menu — a fragrant tagine, freshly made couscous and a traditional Moroccan salad, followed by mint tea and Moroccan pastries. Every step is hands-on — you chop, blend, season and cook, learning the techniques and secrets that have been passed down through Moroccan families for generations.

At the end of the class you sit down together to enjoy the meal you have cooked — a perfect ending to a morning that will change the way you think about food forever.
