Itinerary

Stop 1

Lake Yamanaka (Yamanaka-ko) is the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes and is located at the northern base of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Due to its high altitude, it is the third-highest lake in Japan and is known for freezing completely in the winter, making it a popular spot for ice fishing.

Stop 2

Lake Kawaguchiko (Kawaguchi-ko) is the most visited and accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes, located at the northern base of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. It is the second largest of the five lakes and sits at an elevation of about 830 meters.

Stop 3

Lake Saiko (Sai-ko) is one of the Fuji Five Lakes, situated to the west of the more well-known Lake Kawaguchiko. Unlike the more developed Kawaguchiko, Saiko is known for its serene, natural atmosphere and is less commercially developed. This makes it a popular destination for those seeking outdoor activities and a quieter experience.

Stop 4

Like Lake Saiko and Lake Motosuko, Lake Shoji was formed by a lava flow that separated a single, larger body of water. These three lakes share the same surface elevation and their water levels fluctuate in unison, suggesting that they are still connected by subterranean channels.

Stop 5

Lake Motosuko (Motosu-ko) is the westernmost and deepest of the Fuji Five Lakes. It is known for its exceptional water clarity and a famous view of Mount Fuji that is featured on the back of the Japanese 1,000 yen banknote.
