Itinerary
Departure from Chisinau: 9:00 AM
- Pick-up from your hotel in Chisinau.
- Head towards the Orheiul Vechi Cultural-Natural Reserve, located about 60 km (1-hour drive) from Chisinau.
Orheiul Vechi Cultural-Natural Reserve
- Explore the ancient complex of Orheiul Vechi, one of Moldova's most iconic cultural and historical sites, located along the Răut River.
- Visit the Cave Monastery and explore the medieval fortress ruins that date back to the 14th century.
- Walk along the panoramic views of the river valley and the traditional village landscape.
- Learn about the history of the monastery and the people who have lived in the area.
Local Museums in the Area
- Visit the Orhei Museum of History and Archeology (if available), located near Orheiul Vechi, to learn more about the region’s archaeological discoveries, ancient artifacts, and the historical context of the area.
- Alternatively, you can visit the Ethnographic Museum or a local folk art museum to experience the cultural heritage of Moldova.
Visit Cave Monasteries & Churches
After the lmuseum, head back to Orheiul Vechi to visit more of the Cave Monasteries in the area.
