Itinerary

Day 1 Departure from Buenos Aires
  • Get ready for an incredible adventure! Your 2 days and 1 night tour to Montevideo begins very early in the morning (ca. 6 AM), as the driver picks you up from your hotel/Airbnb and takes you to Buenos Aires ferry station.

After going through customs (note that passports are required) you board the ferry for a comfortable and pleasant 2 hours ride across the “Rio Plata” that separates Argentina from Uruguay. Soak up the sights as you cross the widest river in the world and enjoy panoramic views of Montevideo and the Uruguayan coast as you approach.

  • Arrival to Montevideo & City Tour

Upon arrival, you are received by your local guide,  you embark on a tour of the city’s highlights. In three fun-filled and exciting hours you discover the city’s unique atmosphere that combines Latin American and European cultural influences.

Admire the impressive colonial architecture at the city’s Old District and Independence Square, get in-depth knowledge of Montevideo’s rich theatrical and musical scene at Uruguay’s oldest and most important theater, be blown away by the intricate architecture of Uruguay’s tallest building, drive by the promenade enjoying fantastic views of the city’s sandy beaches, pass by the stadium that hosted the 1st soccer world cup in 1930, and stop at an Agricultural Market to learn about traditional Uruguayan products.

Along the way, several places are offered for you to have a traditional lunch (not included).

After the tour and with a better sense as to where everything is in the town, a driver takes you to your hotel to spend the night. The next day you are given free time to explore the city on your own or have lunch at one of the many local restaurants.

  • Rambla de Montevideo, Montevideo Uruguay

The beaches of Montevideo are bordered by a boulevard of almost 30 kilometers long that makes the coast one of the most distinguished attractions of the city. It`s one of the main open spaces to which the Montevideans go daily to walk and practice sports.

  • Parque Batlle

Located south of Italia Avenue, and north of Rivera Avenue, two of the most important arteries of Montevideo, is the Batlle Park neighborhood, named after the large green lung that is incorporated in the center of the area. It is framed by neighborhoods with a different dynamism from what it has, such as Tres Cruces, Pocitos or La Blanqueada, and it has a very peculiar architecture.

  • Ciudad Vieja

When traveling through the Old City we find colonial, baroque and classic buildings of great architectural and heritage value. In its origins, the site was residential, but over the years it was occupying offices and shops, and becoming the center of financial activity in the country.

Going through it takes us back in time, and forces us to breathe an air as old as cozy. The fronts of each building deserve hours of contemplation; no doubt the masons of that time were true artists with their spoons and spatulas.

Day 2 Free time and return to Buenos Aires

You will have a free day to enjoy the different districts, squares, cathedrals, small coffee bars, restaurants, museums and handicraft shops.
