Samburu National Reserve is a wildlife reserve in northern Kenya known for its unique "Samburu Special Five": the Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. The semi-arid landscape is bisected by the Ewaso Ng'iro River, creating a vital oasis for wildlife, which also includes large elephant herds, big cats, and over 450 species of birds. Visitors can also experience the culture of the Samburu people, known for their vibrant traditional attire.
The Mau Mau Caves are located on the slopes of of mount Kenya and were used by freedom fighters during the Kenyan Emergency (1952–1960). They are a historical site near Nanyuki, known for their role as a hideout and for their rugged terrain, which includes nearby waterfalls and the Burguret River While there are several caves in the area, some sources indicate that the original cave was destroyed, and what is now visited is a gorge with a waterfall and a historical significance from that era. The caves are reached via a hiking trail, which varies in difficulty and length depending on the route. Some trails are beginner-friendly and can take 4–6 hours to complete. Trails lead to scenic features such as a waterfall and the Burguret River. Some viewpoints offer picnic spots.
Lake Nakuru lies squarely on the floor of the Great Rift Valley and surrounded by the characteristic woody and bushy grassland, her sky mirrored lake waters extending to an expansive mass of semi-alkaline water, Lake Nakuru National Park is a ball of beautiful sights waiting to be explored. A wide ecological diversity, varied wildlife habitats, plant and animal species await the wild outdoor lovers.
The park is a uniquely rewarding game-viewing destination and a successful sanctuary for both the endangered black rhinos and white rhinos.
Hells gate National Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. It was established in 1984. The park is notable for its wide variety of wildlife and for its scenery. This includes the Fischer's Tower and Central Tower columns . The national park is also home to five geothermal power stations at Olkaria.
The Masai Mara features a stunning kaleidoscope of wild and rugged landscapes, warm and welcoming people and an exciting array of creatures – big and small. World famous for hosting the epic Great Migration, the Masai Mara welcomes 1,5 million wildebeests onto its sprawling savannahs each July through October. The Masai Mara National Reserve and conservancies are brimming with life and offer safari travellers a wide variety of activities .
The park features three basic campsites and includes a Masai Cultural Center, providing education about the Masai culture and traditions.
