How to Go to Arugam Bay
Reaching Arugam Bay is an experience in itself. When you arrive in Colombo, you have two convenient options: plane or bus. For the budget traveler, taking the bus is ideal. Direct buses from Colombo to Pottuvil depart from the Pettah bus stand in the morning, with a journey lasting around 10 hours. Bus number 98 on the Pottuvil route costs approximately 400 LKR ($5.5) per ride, with an additional fee of 100 LKR ($1.5) per large luggage piece – totaling roughly $7 for a one-way trip.
Alternatively, Cinnamon Air offers seasonally scheduled flights from Colombo, though at a higher cost. Many seasoned travelers prefer the bus option for its affordability and the chance to see more of the countryside.
Getting Around Arugam Bay
