La Isla De Los Monos (Monkey Island) is a 450-hectare island sanctuary and rescue center located 30km from Iquitos in the Amazon jungle of Peru. During your visit, you can observe a variety of species in their natural habitat and learn about how they care for young monkeys so they grow strong, healthy, and independent. Our ecotours are a unique way to explore the Amazon with an authentic experience of living in the rain forest with the monkeys on the island.
đ Tour Itinerary: Amazon River – Isla De Los Monos Peru – 4 Days
Day 1: Arrival to Iquitos and transfer to Omagua Eco-Lodge (Timicuro Grande) – (L, D)
Youâll transfer to the picturesque port of Puerto Lau and board the riverboat that will take us to Omagua Eco-Lodge, through the Amazon River. Along the way, youâll make a stop to observe the union of the Amazon and Nanay Rivers and youâll see the colors of the waters of the two rivers which do not mix evenly. Arriving at Omagua Eco-Lodge youâll check in relax and unwind.
You will also discover the Chullachaqui Eco-Museum where you can find and enjoy the importance of medicinal plants & liquors to heal the body of ailments. Plants such as Ayahuasca (Hallucinogenic), Mucura, Oriza, Piùon, Lancetilla, Patiquina Negra, Ajos Sacha, Achiote (Baùo de Florecimiento, treatments for ailments and good fortune).
In the evening youâll enjoy a beautiful Amazonian sunset on the Amazon River.

Day 2: Timicuro Grande – Amazon River – La Isla de los Monos (B, L, D)
Leaving in the mid-morning after a delicious breakfast at Omagua Lodge; rowing down a Quebrada of the Amazon River for about 2 hours, youâll discover the Islas de Los Monos. Monkey Island (Islas de Los Monos) is a Center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and liberation of primates victims of illegal trade and hunting.
Discover 10 species of primates typical of the Amazon such as Choro monkey (woolly monkey), Stump monkey (titi monkey), Spider monkey or Maquisapa (spider monkey), Piquico monkey (tamarin), Howler monkey (Marmoset), among other species.
On arrival youâll be greeted on the bridge by several of the inhabitants, itâs a wonderful experience. Check-in to your room before you go to explore the island and be accompanied by its residents!
After a couple of hours exploring and walking with the monkeys, lunch will be prepared and then youâll have more time in the afternoon to explore the rescue center. After dinner, youâll overnight at the rescue center.

Day 3: La Isla de los Monos – Timicuro Grande (B, L, D)
Today, starting early (6.30 a.m) youâll take breakfast and have the opportunity to spend more time exploring the island and accompanying the monkeys. Leaving late morning youâll row a further 2 hours before reaching Timicuro Grande once more in the early afternoon. Lunch will be prepared in the Omagua Lodge while you are enjoying a refreshing bath and swim in the river to soak your body.
In the afternoon youâll enjoy the activities of the Lodge and relax in your cabaĂąa. A typical and local dinner will be served in the evening and later you can relax by the fire in the Lodge.

Day 4: Timicuro Grande – Iquitos (B)
Leaving Timicuro Grande at 8:00 am youâll be transferred back to Iquitos and the airport, where youâll make your connecting flight back to Lima and onwards. Itâs never goodbye, only until the next time!!
