💎 Why we love it ?

With this Safari, the Orinoco is back, and the region stands more proudly than ever. Still largely wild and untouched, it is a haven for wildlife appreciation, adventure travel, and profound cultural connection. The region’s varied landscapes of wetlands, savannahs, rivers, palm groves, and gallery forests attract and nourish an extensive array of wildlife of rare mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. On land, guests can expect to see giant anteaters, capybaras, caimans, and dashing white-tailed deers in abundance, spot howler monkeys between tall forest trees, and if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of the rare pink river dolphin, a puma, or a prowling jaguar on the hunt for prey.

🏁 Tour Itinerary: Luxury Safari Tour to Los Llanos

Day 1: Fly from Bogotá or Bucaramanga to Yopal (L, D)

Arrive in Yopal, the Capital of the Casanare department! Arrive at Yopal airport where an English-speaking host and a driver will be waiting to drive you to Corocora Camp. Please note that travel time is 2 hours on paved roads and approximately 45 minutes inside the reserve on unpaved roads.
Welcome to the beautiful region of “Los Llanos”. Your Safari in a Cattle Plains just started. Explore the reserve in search of local fauna including deer, capybaras, howler monkeys, and giant anteaters, or partake in one of the camp’s included experiences: Bird watching, canoeing, or artisanal fishing.
Your accommodation is an exclusive tented camp designed to give travelers the opportunity to experience wildlife in Colombia, without compromising comfort and service. The camp comprises four sleeping tents and a social tent, all located alongside a small river and gallery forests bursting with wildlife. Tents are spaced out to give guests privacy and admire the passing animals and birds with a good book in hand.

🏚️ Accommodation: Corocora Camp.

✈️Domestic flight to/from Yopal is included.

Day 2: Llanero Cowboys Experience (B, L, D)

Spend the early morning hours with llanero cowboys experiencing their traditions: Barefoot horseback riding, herding and corralling cattle, using a lasso, and singing to call and ease cattle. Witness why llanero chants were declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Recommended 5:30 am – 10:00 am when llaneros do their daily activities.

4×4 Expedition
On-board a 4×4 or tractor, explore more remote areas of the reserve. The expedition combines driving and walking to view more wildlife and explore inaccessible areas such as gallery forests. Please note that the type of vehicle will be adapted depending on the weather and road conditions.

🏚️ Accommodation: Corocora Camp.

Day 3: Natur & Culture & Music (B, L, D)

Riding with Llaneros (Half Day)
Spend the morning or afternoon riding with a local llanero cowboy and an English-speaking naturalist guide. Experience the essence of the llanero riding culture and explore the most inaccessible and natural parts of the reserve. Recommended 5:30 am – 10:00 am and 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm when the sun and heat are low, and the animals are more active.

Parranda Llanera – Music (1 hour)
Conclude the day with a traditional Parrando, which consists of a bonfire dinner and live music: Harp, guitars, and maracas. Llanero’s songs recount stories of adventure, love, nature, and traditions.

🏚️ Accommodation: Corocora Camp.

Day 4: Conservation Program & Depart Los Llanos (B)

Enjoy breakfast and a beautiful morning at the Camp. Transfer to Yopal airport with your driver (5-6 hours). Flight to Bogotá.

When to Visit?

When to visit Los Llanos entirely depends on each client’s preferences, as there is no one season-best to visit the region. April and December are particularly beautiful times to visit, as these months fall at the turn of the seasons. This means the weather conditions are slightly less extreme, and visitors can enjoy a range of wildlife on both dry land and some flooded plains.
A humid, tropical climate is typical in Los Llanos, with temperatures ranging from a low of 21˚C (70˚F) in the evenings, to a high of 34˚C (93˚F) during the dry months of February and March.

DECEMBER – JANUARY • Expect dry weather with green landscapes, a concentration of animals around watering holes, migratory birds, anaconda sightings, and births of giant anteaters. Average precipitation: December 40mm, January 11mm.

FEBRUARY – MARCH • Expect dry weather with arid landscapes, the highest concentration of animals around watering holes, migratory birds, anaconda sightings, births of giant anteaters, and easy access to remote areas. Average precipitation: February 30mm, March 57mm.
