Meet at Malaga Airport

Day 1

MALAGA - Arrival

  • Malaga (Malaka), is one of the oldest cities in the Western Mediterranean, its archaeological legacy shows it with one of the best preserved Phoenician cities in the country (Cerro del Villar). Upon arrival in Malaga, we will transfer you from the train station / airport to the hotel for the check-in.

    In the afternoon, we begin the visit to the historic center. The Alcazaba along with the Roman amphitheater were the primitive sites of the primitive Phoenician foundation. What that area today, in the seventeenth century, that entire area was the coastline. After the guided urban walk, we will visit the Ifergan Collection Gallery, where its “Malaka” room is one of the most important of this civilization in Spain.

Day 2

MALAGA - SEVILLA

  • In the morning, after breakfast, we move to Ispal (Seville). We leave Malaga behind and enter one of the primitive ports of connection with the Mediterranean and the interior of the peninsula. Upon arrival in Seville, we check-in. We begin the visit with a guided walk divided into two parts: first, the primitive port encalve currently known as the “Cuesta Osario” located in the surroundings of the Seville city hall, as well as the Alcazar area of ​​the city. The second part corresponds to the area of ​​the Guadalquivir margin, with a later infrastructure but of equal importance such as the Torre del Oro, New York Pier and Puerta de Jerez and the Triana neighborhood, where this last place offers us a panoramic view where we will historically empathize with the ancient city of Ispal.

    In the afternoon, after lunch, we can enjoy free time to visit the Cathedral of Seville and explore the city.

Day 3

SEVILLA - RIOTINTO - SEVILLA

  • Metallurgy and the exploitation process was one of the integrations in the peninsula, first as a method of exchange with other products brought in such as oil and later as an integrating industrial process. The Phoenicians adapted these industrial processes in areas of great value such as Riotinto. After breakfast, we will make a full day excursion from Seville to the Riotinto mines, visiting important places such as La Peña de Hierro and the Mining Museum.

    At the end of the visit, we move inside to see an ecological oil mill and the manual production processes. The oil, brought by the Phoenicians, has endured and has been one of the most valued products to this day. A very complete guided tour where we can also buy some of its oils.

    After the visit, return to Seville.

Day 4

SEVILLA - CADIZ

  • In the morning, after breakfast, we check-out and head to Gadir (Cádiz). Upon arrival, we check-in and our route begins through the oldest city in the West and the culmination of the Phoenician civilization of the Mediterranean. The city of Cádiz was a primary enclave for trade with indigenous civilizations as a port of entry and exit from the interior of the peninsula. The route begins with a visit to the castle of San Sebastián, the Caleta beach and the La Viña neighborhood.

    After lunch, we move to Chiclana to see the important sanctuary and island of Sancti Petri, where we will cross it by boat to gain access. A legendary place historically linked to one of the most important and famous temples of antiquity: the Temple of Melqart-Hercules. According to historiography, Hercules, the mythical founder of Cádiz, was buried in this temple, where he arrived to carry out one of his twelve jobs: the theft of the bulls of King Gerión of Tartessos, whom he killed during the feat. In addition to the remains of Hercules, the Heraklion contained important relics, such as the belt of Teucer or the Pygmalion tree.

    His fame spread throughout the Mediterranean and numerous classic writers such as Strabo, Filóstrato and Posidonio narrate the visit of illustrious characters, such as Amílcar Barca, Aníbal or Julio César; This temple being where Hannibal offered his vows to the god before undertaking the conquest of Italy or where Julius Caesar wept before the statue of Alexander the Great, since, at thirty-two years old, he had not yet reached the glory of the Macedonian. The visit at dusk evokes us to a legendary time with fascinating views of the Mediterranean.

Day 5

CADIZ - BAELO CLAUDIA - CADIZ

  • In the morning, we move to the Ensenada de Bolonia, specifically to the city of Baelo Claudia. From a current Roman settlement, salting was already produced in Phoenician times. The entire coastal area from Tarifa to Cádiz, was bathed by important salting areas, improved and giving it a value for high society in Roman times. The city of Baelo Claudia is located in a privileged natural environment on the seashore, where we can enjoy and discover the different archaeological sites that have been valued and well preserved, such as the Roman theater, the salted fish, the forum and the temples of the Capitoline Triad. . A complete visit where we can also enjoy the maritime gastronomy back, in areas such as Zahara de los Atunes, Barbate or Vejer de la Frontera.

    Upon arrival in Cádiz and after a break, we will visit the Museum of Cádiz, where we will discover one of the most important pieces of the artistic legacy of the Phoenician culture, such as the anthropomorphic sarcophagi, among other spaces dedicated to the Phoenician Cádiz.
