The Atomic Bomb Dome, originally the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, stands as a symbol of peace and a reminder of the devastating atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. It is one of the few structures left standing near the bomb’s epicenter and has been preserved in its ruined state to promote nuclear disarmament and global peace efforts. Today, it forms part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park offers travelers a chance to witness the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Itsukushima Shrine, located on Miyajima Island, is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its "floating" torii gate, which appears to rise from the sea during high tide. This iconic Shinto shrine, built in harmony with nature, dates back to the 12th century and includes several connected structures, such as a prayer hall, main hall, and noh theater stage, all standing on wooden piers. The shrine holds great spiritual and historical significance in Japan.
