Experience the Greatness of Antiquity. If we could choose the one place where you will have your most memorable encounter with history in Albania, it would have to be the ancient city of Apollonia founded in the sixth century B.C. It was considered to be one of the most prominent cities at the time.
You will visit the Monastery and the Church of St. Mary, which, along with the Archaeological Museum located inside the monastery, add yet another layer of history, architecture, and culture to the Park.
Head south to Gjirokastra One of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, this gorgeous, carefully preserved, peculiar-looking city is built on steep slopes where stone-roofed houses seem to be built on top of one another. Take your time to walk through The Gjirokastra Bazaar which lies long beneath the castle walls, with its cobblestoned streets, medieval facades, and an array of wonderfully handcrafted gifts.
