Sesimbra Village – A charming and photogenic coastal town that attracts both Lisbon locals and international visitors. For centuries, Sesimbra has been deeply connected to fishing traditions, which are still visible today in its lively and colorful fishing harbor, filled with traditional boats.

The town is also known for its golden sandy beach and clear turquoise waters, creating a beautiful seaside setting. Overlooking the village stands the Sesimbra Castle, of Moorish origin, perched on a hill and offering a glimpse into the region’s rich historical past.

Perched atop a rugged promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Sesimbra Castle dates back to the 12th century and was originally constructed by the Order of Santiago to guard the Portuguese coastline against Muslim incursions and pirate raids. Its sturdy rammed-earth walls, imposing towers, and underground cistern reflect centuries of strategic importance. Inside, you’ll discover archaeological remains from earlier fortified settlements, including traces of a pre-Roman castro. From the battlements, panoramic views stretch across the whitewashed village of Sesimbra, the sweeping bay, and the verdant Arrábida hills—offering both a glance into Portugal’s martial past and a breathtaking coastal vista.

Cabo Espichel – A captivating destination where history, nature, and dramatic coastal landscapes come together. This remarkable headland is home to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo, a striking 17th-century religious complex, and the Cabo Espichel Lighthouse, built in the 18th century to guide ships along Portugal’s rugged coastline.

This wild and unspoiled beach remains unofficial and unguarded, with no sunbeds or kiosks, preserving its natural and tranquil character. It is the perfect place for a peaceful walk, relaxing by the sea, or enjoying a beautiful sunset along the Atlantic coast.

Visitors should be aware that the Atlantic currents can be stronger, so extra care is recommended when entering the water.

Cristo Rei – One of the most iconic viewpoints near Lisbon, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over the Tagus River, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and the city skyline. This impressive monument, inspired by Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, stands as a symbol of peace and gratitude.
