Sintra Mountains
Welcome to the Serra de Sintra, a breathtaking mountain range just a few kilometers from Lisbon and part of the Sintra UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Covered in lush forests, dramatic hills, and hidden valleys, this natural park creates the magical setting that made Sintra one of Europe’s most romantic destinations.
As you travel through the winding mountain roads, discover ancient viewpoints, historic estates, and the unique microclimate that allows exotic plants from around the world to flourish. The Serra de Sintra is where nature, history, and architecture come together—home to iconic landmarks such as Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, and Monserrate Palace, all surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty.
Fonte da Sabuga
Moorish Castle (Pass by)
Welcome to the Moorish Castle (Castelo dos Mouros), a historic fortress perched high in the Serra de Sintra. Built during the Moorish period in the 8th–9th centuries, its rugged stone walls once served as a strategic defense point overlooking the surrounding valleys and coastline.
From this elevated viewpoint, enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Sintra mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, and even the colorful Pena Palace rising above the forested hills. The dramatic landscape and medieval atmosphere make this one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region.
Please note: this stop focuses on the exterior viewpoints and surrounding area. Castle interior access is not included and tickets are not part of this visit.

With your essential visit to the palace included, along with a guided tour of the surrounding terraces and gardens, you’ll discover its fairy-tale architecture, sweeping regional views, and the unique botanical treasures that make this monument one of Portugal’s most remarkable landmarks.
Sintra’s Historic Center
During the walk, you’ll also have the opportunity to try a small glass of ginjinha, Portugal’s traditional cherry liqueur, and browse local boutiques offering handcrafted goods and souvenirs created by regional artisans.
This stop offers a relaxed moment to experience the authentic atmosphere and culinary traditions of Sintra.
Quinta da Regaleira
Monserrate Palace (Pass by)
The Monserrate Palace is a remarkable 19th-century architectural gem set within the lush landscape of the Serra de Sintra. Commissioned by the British industrialist Sir Francis Cook in 1858, the palace combines Gothic Revival, Moorish, and Indian architectural influences, creating one of the most distinctive residences in Portugal.
Surrounded by extraordinary botanical gardens featuring rare plants from around the world, Monserrate reflects the romantic spirit that defines Sintra’s historic landscape.
Please note: this stop focuses on the exterior views and surrounding area. Palace interior access and entrance tickets are not included.
