The Ancient Wonders of Dendera and Abydos
Pick-Up and Drive: You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven by private car along the ancient route that the Egyptians used, passing through the stunning scenery of the Red Sea and high mountains.First Stop – Abydos: Abydos, founded over 5,000 years ago, is a major archaeological site. Here, you’ll visit the temples of Seti I and Ramses II, which were dedicated to the Egyptian gods Isis, Osiris, and Horus.
These temples are famous for their beautiful, colorful columns and the Abydos Royal List, which is a unique list of pharaohs engraved on the walls.
You will also be able to view some unusual engravings, like a helicopter, tank, and submarine, which are a mystery in terms of their depiction on ancient walls.
The legend of Isis and Osiris, one of Egypt's most famous myths, is depicted here as well.Lunch: After visiting Abydos, you’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant.Second Stop – Dendera: After lunch, the next visit will be to Dendera, where you'll explore the Temple of Hathor, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved temples in Egypt. The temple is adorned with stunning colors and decorations that are over 2,000 years old.
In Dendera, you’ll also see the famous ancient horoscopes and calendar, which are considered some of the oldest examples in the world.
Don’t miss the Serdab, a corridor that houses an ancient lamp engraving on the wall, made using one of the oldest techniques.Return to Hurghada: After a full day of exploration, you’ll head back to Hurghada in the evening.
