Ta Prohm Temple at Tonle Bati

Often overshadowed by its namesake in Siem Reap, Ta Prohm Temple at Tonle Bati is a hidden gem just outside Phnom Penh. Built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the 12th century, this beautifully preserved temple features intricate carvings, serene surroundings, and a peaceful lakeside setting. It’s much less crowded than Angkor temples, allowing visitors to explore Khmer architecture and spiritual symbolism in a quiet, reflective atmosphere. Nearby Tonle Bati Lake also provides a relaxing spot for a picnic or boat ride.

Tamao Mountain (Phnom Tamao)

Tamao Mountain offers a refreshing escape from the city, with lush greenery, scenic views, and spiritual significance. Often visited by locals for picnics and prayer, the mountain is home to several sacred sites, including hilltop shrines and hidden pagodas. The peaceful natural setting makes it an ideal spot for relaxation, meditation, or simply enjoying Cambodia’s countryside atmosphere. It's also closely connected with local legends and Buddhist beliefs, adding a cultural depth to your visit.

Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre

Located on the slopes of Tamao Mountain, the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre is Cambodia’s largest sanctuary for rescued wildlife. Managed in partnership with Wildlife Alliance, this ethical rescue center houses endangered animals saved from poaching and illegal trade, including elephants, gibbons, sun bears, leopards, and crocodiles. What makes this center special is its mission: not just a zoo, but a haven dedicated to rehabilitation and conservation. Visitors can see animals up close in large, natural enclosures and learn about the efforts being made to protect Cambodia's native species.

Puth Kiri Pagoda

Puth Kiri Pagoda is a serene and lesser-known religious site that showcases traditional Khmer architecture, peaceful surroundings, and stunning views of the nearby countryside. The pagoda is perched on a hill, offering panoramic vistas, especially beautiful during sunrise or sunset.
