Itinerary

Great Wall at Juyongguan

Meet your guide in your Beijing hotel lobby at 8:00 and start the tour by going to the Juyongguan Great Wall. It takes about 1.5 hours and you will see the beautiful countryside of Beijing en route. The Geat Wall at Juyongguan is located in the 18 kilometers lone Guangou Valley where the Jundu Mountain and Yan Mountain combine which was the only route between Beijing and Mongolia from the North in the past.

Sacred Way and Dingling of Ming Tombs

Continue to see the Ming Tombs, the burial ground for the 13 Ming Emperors, so it is commonly called Thirteen Ming Tombs by Chinese. You will visit part of the Sacred Way with stone animals leading to the 13 Ming tombs. The total length of the Sacred Way is about 7 kilometers which was considered to be the distance between secular world and celestial world. You will see the exquisitely carved statues of human figures and animals guarding the Ming emperors' afterlife.

Then visit Dingling, Tomb for Emperor Wanli and the only imperial tomb that has been officially excavated so far in China. It has a 27 meters deep underground palace, an imitation of the Forbidden City for the Emperor's afterlife. About 3,000 pieces of artifacts have been found in the Underground Palace of Dingling; some of them are displayed in the museum of Dingling.
