Itinerary

Stop 1

Created to commemorate the signing of the first treaty of its kind between the Philippines and Spain, the Blood Compact Monument is a piece of art in its own right. The memorial is located in the Bool District, on a strip of land next to what is now Tagbilaran East Road. Its current location is significant because it was the site of a blood compact between Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Rajah Sikatuna on March 16, 1565. The locals of Bohol and the foreigners to their island were apparently united in their appreciation of this friendly gesture.

Boholano and National Artist Napoleon Abueva sculpted the life-size statue. It depicts five men, all in bronze, seated at a table and raising a glass to Legazpi and Sikatuna, who are seated on an elevated dais.

Stop 2

The Baclayon Church in Bohol is an awe-inspiring sight, having been declared a National Cultural Treasure and Historic Landmark. This iconic institution has served as a symbol of faith for centuries — constructed using the same materials from 1727 — when it was first established by Jesuits in 1596 following the Spanish invasion. Truly one of the oldest Catholic churches still standing int he Philippines today, visitors cannot help but marvel at its timeless vistas and lasting legacy.

Baclayon Church is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, where parishioners greet visitors with genuine warmth. When there are no ongoing mass services, guests enter the premise through the small museum which was once used as a convent; boasting antiques from centuries ago ranging all the way back to the 16th century! Experience this enchanting landmark in its purest form - quaintly organized yet rich in history.

Stop 3

Get ready for a thrilling excursion through Bohol Island's Tarsier Conservation Area in Loboc! This incredible sanctuary is a perfect place to observe the Philippines' tarsiers up close and learn more about their habitat. As you traverse down its pebbled pathway into the depths of this enchanting jungle, be prepared for a memorable experience that will stay with you forever.

Remember that silence is key to avoiding disrupting the Tarsiers’ rest. Additionally, it's important to keep your camera flash off and maintain a safe distance from these fragile creatures as touching them could cause injury.

Stop 4

For over half a century, the Bohol Mahogany Forest (known as Bilar Man-Made Forest) has been an immense natural wonder – spanning two kilometers along Loboc and Bilar towns in Bohol. Filled with lush white and red mahogany trees, this reforestation project is truly something to behold!

When entering the forest, one is immediately struck by the drastic temperature drop that occurs during hot summer days. This stark change in climate is due to the density of trees and their canopies that seem to stretch all around you. The magnificent sight of countless young saplings reaching toward the sky above them through a seemingly impenetrable blanket of branches and leaves paints quite an impressive picture indeed! Exquisite roots emerge from beneath the soil, winding themselves along boulders as they make their way up embankments before eventually fading away into paths; truly stunning!

Stop 5

The Butterfly Garden by Simply Butterflies Conservation Center in Poblacion, Bilar houses hundreds of mesmerizing butterflies. Not only that, but the garden also provides a tranquil nature trail, snack area and restaurant to its visitors - as well as an inviting visitor center with plenty of souvenirs! Clean restrooms are available too along with areas devoted to butterfly feeding, plant farming/breeding activities and craft workshops! To top it all off they serve exclusive BBQ buko - delicious barbecued coconut meats sure to tantalize your taste buds.

Stop 6

The Chocolate Hills of Bohol, Philippines are a captivating geological sight. Reportedly 1,260-1,776 hills span across fifty square kilometers; each crowned with lush green vegetation that turns to chocolate brown during the dry season - hence their renowned name.

Bohol is renowned for its iconic Chocolate Hills, which proudly appear on the provincial flag and seal as a tribute to its abundance of natural beauty. These hills have earned their place in the Philippine Tourism Authority's list of must-see tourist attractions in the country and are celebrated as the nation’s third National Geological Monument. Adding to this distinction, they have been proposed for inclusion in UNESCO World Heritage List – an honor that would solidify Bohol's position among some of world history’s most revered sites.
