Itinerary

Step 1

Buganda Kingdom is one of the vibrant kingdoms in Uganda that is very committed to promoting cultural tourism. This trail will take you to Lubiri which is the ceremonial palace of the King of Buganda. To explore this palace you will need about two hours, Where you will be able to see Idi Amin Torture chambers where many Ugandans were murdered before visiting Kabaka’s Lake locally referred to as Akayanja ka Kabaka. This is a manmade lake that was aimed at connecting Lubiri with Lake victoria since the King was tired of commuting from his palace to go to lake victoria for swimming and canoeing. From Lubiri, you will visit Mengo which is the parliament of Buganda and later head to Kasubi Tombs, which is the burial place for the kings of Buganda.

Step 2

This Namugongo shrines is dedicated to 22 young Christian congregants who were brutally murdered by Kabaka Mwanga in [ ] for their allegiance to Christianity, they were beatified in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV and later canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964. The 22 Martyrs are the only African saints to whom a basilica is dedicated and they are the largest group of saints ever canonized by the Catholic Church.

Every 3rd June the Catholic Church and their counterpart of Anglican persuasion flock this place from all over Africa most of them by foot to commemorate this day in honor of their Religious heroes. The unique architecture of African hut, the temple of worship in this place is a great tour destination and this same place has hosted 3 Popes

Step 3

There is no other place to visit local markets than on your Kampala city tour. Its an experience exploring city markets on foot, It is very exciting to discover how traders dealing in fruits, vegetables, food stuffs and other merchandize conduct business in a very congested place of work. Their hospitality is awesome confirming that Ugandan’s are indeed friendly people.
