Main Observation Deck of Meteora, often called Psaropetra or "Sunset Rock," is a natural rock outcropping that offers arguably the most iconic 360-degree panorama of the entire region

Key Features Panoramic Views: It provides a sweeping vantage point of the "rock forest" and showcases  five to six of the active monasteries simultaneously, including Varlaam and Rousanou.

"Sunset Rock": It is the most famous spot for photography during the golden hour, as the setting sun illuminates the sandstone pillars and monasteries in vibrant orange and red hues.

Atmosphere: Despite being a popular tourist stop, it is often described by visitors as a deeply spiritual and serene locationVisitor Tips Terrain: Unlike a man-made deck, it consists of uneven, slippery rock surfaces. Sturdy shoes are recommended, and caution is advised near the unfenced edges.

Holy Monastery of Varlaam is the second largest in the Meteora complex. Perched atop a 373-meter cliff, it was first inhabited by the hermit Varlaam in the 14th century, but the current structures were established in 1517 by the wealthy brothers Theophanes and Nektarios Apsarades

Key FeaturesThe Katholikon: Dedicated to All Saints, this Athonite-style church was built in 1541. It is famous for its 1548 frescoes by the renowned iconographer Frangos Katelanos.

The Museum: Housed in the old refectory, the sacristy displays a rich collection of over 290 manuscripts, gold-embroidered vestments (including a rare 1609 Epitaph), and historical relics.

The Winch & Barrel: Visitors can see the original wooden winch (tower) used to lift materials in a net and a massive 12-ton wooden water barrel.
