Itinerary
St. Stephen's Cathedral
Originally known as the Coal Market, the Kohlmarkt is an old shopping street of Vienna. All along the street, you will walk by historical buildings and trendy shops designed by famous architects. At the entrance of Kohlmarkt are the Hofburg and one of the oldest fountains of Vienna.
Ancient home of the Habsburg dynasty from generation to generation, the imperial palace will be a wonder to the eye. It is currently the residence of the President of Austria but has been hosting the power since the 13th century. It is composed of several stunning residences like the imperial chapel, the imperial library, and the vast Spanish Riding School.
Stop 4
The also-called Museum of Art History is the largest art museum in Austria. The construction has been finished in 1891, just like its neighbor the Natural History Museum. If the indoor shows a formidable art collection, you will love its outdoor architecture. The façade has been built of sandstone, and the dome is 60 meters high.
Stop 5
If Vienna wasn't already beautiful with its buildings, its green spaces give a nice touch to the city. Burggarten is one of its best spots to lay on the grass and enjoy a sunny day. It is a very nice promenade out of the crowd. You will be able to look at exceptional pieces of art like the famous Mozart monument or the Hercule and the Nemean lion statue fountain.
Stop 6
Part of Burrgarten, the Butterfly House is a protected area full of wonders. Located in an art nouveau building, it is the home of hundreds of free-flying tropical butterflies like the colorful Atlas butterfly. This walk will lead you to a fabulous waterfall, a small pond and several cute bridges. It is a nice time where you'll be able to know more about those beautiful beetles.
Stop 7
The Vienna Opera House is a place where music becomes perfection. It was the home of two popular composers: Mozart and Strauss. Then, it is not a surprise to know it enjoys an outstanding international reputation. The Vienna Opera House hosts a great design and a long-standing operatic history behind its good-looking façade. Many figures of the past played here, like Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Callas or Enrico Caruso.
