Why we love it?

This immersive 3-hour experience in the Kilimanjaro Region offers a genuine glimpse into Chagga culture and coffee traditions through a visit to Materuni Village. Guests participate in harvesting fresh, organic ingredients from a local garden before learning to prepare Machalari, the traditional Chagga banana stew, cooked over a wood fire. The tour includes a coffee ceremony where you’ll engage in roasting and brewing coffee by hand, reflecting the region’s rich heritage. While admission to Materuni Village Experience and Chagga culture and coffee sites is not included, this hands-on workshop supports local families and preserves authentic Tanzanian recipes.
