Step 1

The road from Tbilisi to Kazbegi runs along the picturesque gorge of the Aragvi River: The first stop at one of the dams of the Zhinvali reservoir:

Gergeti Church

You surely saw such postcards: an ancient monastery standing on a hill on a background of snow-capped mountains. For these species in reality, you will go to the village of Stepantsminda at the foot of Kazbek. And there you will transfer to jeeps to climb to the "monastery behind the clouds", sung in the poems of Pushkin.
