Itinerary

Day 1
  • Leaving the city behind, you’ll head north into Perthshire, and onto the pretty village of Dunkeld, sitting on the banks of the River Tay. There’s time to stretch your legs and take in the peaceful setting before continuing a short distance to The Hermitage. Here, a gentle woodland walk leads you beneath towering Douglas firs to a beautiful waterfall crashing through a narrow gorge. You’ll then travel on to Pitlochry, a lively Highland town where you’ll have time for lunch and a wander. In the afternoon, the scenery becomes more rugged as you make your way north to Clava Cairns, a well-preserved prehistoric burial site surrounded by standing stones. A short drive brings you to Culloden Battlefield, where your guide will walk you through the events of the 1746 Jacobite Rising. From here, you’ll follow the shoreline of Loch Ness, keeping an eye out for any mysterious ripples on the water. You’ll have the chance to take an evening cruise on the loch – a relaxed way to end the day as the light fades over the Highlands. (Overnight: Fort Augustus)

Day 2
  • Your day begins with a scenic journey towards Skye and a stop at a viewpoint overlooking Eilean Donan Castle, set where three sea lochs meet. Crossing the Skye Bridge, you’ll pass beneath the peaks of the Cuillin Mountains before heading out on foot to the Fairy Pools. This walk follows a rough path alongside bright, clear pools and small waterfalls. Next, you’ll head to the island’s colourful harbour town, Portree, where there’s time to grab lunch and explore at your own pace. The afternoon is spent visiting Kilt Rock and its waterfalls and the striking rock formation of the Old Man of Storr, rising above the surrounding cliffs. (Overnight: Portree)

Day 3

Commando Memorial, Glen Coe, and the Kelpies

  • Leaving Skye behind, you’ll travel through the Great Glen, stopping at the Commando Memorial, which looks out towards the mountains and honours the soldiers who trained here during the Second World War. On a clear day, you may catch sight of Ben Nevis in the distance, the UK’s highest peak. The journey continues south into Glen Coe, one of Scotland’s most atmospheric landscapes. Steep sides, winding roads, and a powerful history make this a highlight of the trip, with time for a photo stop along the way. From here, you’ll cross the wide, open expanse of Rannoch Moor before passing through the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Your final stop of the day is at The Kelpies – towering steel sculptures that offer a memorable end to your Highland adventure.
