Itinerary

Step 1

Step into the story of Egypt’s civilization with a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, one of the most important cultural attractions in Cairo. Located in the historic area of Fustat, the museum presents a comprehensive journey through more than 7,000 years of Egyptian history, from prehistoric times to the modern era.

The highlight of the museum is the world-famous Royal Mummies Hall, where visitors can see the preserved mummies of legendary ancient Egyptian rulers, including Ramesses II and Hatshepsut. The carefully designed exhibition recreates the atmosphere of royal tombs, offering an unforgettable and respectful look at Egypt’s greatest kings and queens.

Beyond the mummies, the museum features a wide collection of artifacts, including statues, textiles, tools, jewelry, manuscripts, and everyday objects that illustrate the development of Egyptian society across different eras—Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern Egypt.

Step 2

The Cairo Citadel is one of the most famous historical landmarks in Cairo. Built in the 12th century by Saladin, the fortress was designed to protect the city from Crusader invasions and later became the center of government in Egypt for centuries.

Inside the citadel, visitors can explore several historic sites, including the magnificent Mosque of Muhammad Ali, known for its impressive Ottoman architecture and panoramic views of Cairo. The complex also contains museums, old palaces, and military structures that reflect different periods of Egyptian history.

The The Hanging Church

is one of the oldest and most important Christian churches in Cairo. Located in the historic district of Coptic Cairo, the church was built above the gatehouse of the ancient Babylon Fortress, which gives it the name “Hanging Church.”

Dating back to the 3rd–7th centuries, the church is famous for its beautiful wooden ceiling shaped like Noah’s Ark, historic Coptic icons, and intricate marble pulpit. It has long served as an important center of the Coptic Orthodox Church and remains a major religious and cultural landmark in Egypt.

The Mosque

of Amr Ibn Al-As is the first mosque built in Egypt and across the African continent. It was established in 641 AD by Amr ibn al-As after the Islamic conquest of Egypt and became the religious center of the early Islamic capital of Fustat.

Over the centuries, the mosque was rebuilt and expanded several times, forming the large structure seen today. Known for its wide courtyard, elegant arches, and historic significance, the mosque remains an important spiritual and architectural landmark in Cairo.

Step 5

The Khan el-Khalili is one of the most famous traditional markets in Cairo and a major cultural attraction in the historic district of Islamic Cairo. Established in the 14th century during the Mamluk era, the bazaar has been a center of trade, crafts, and local culture for centuries.

Visitors can explore narrow streets filled with shops selling traditional Egyptian souvenirs, handmade jewelry, spices, lanterns, carpets, perfumes, and antiques. The area is also home to historic cafés, including the famous El Fishawy Café, making the bazaar a lively place to experience the atmosphere of old Cairo.
