Why we love it?

This two-day backcountry adventure in the Handüzü Valley offers freeriders and splitboarders direct access to the varied terrain of the Kaçkar range, known for its reliable snowpack and mix of open glacial faces and technical tree runs. Using snowmobiles as private lifts, the tour maximizes time on untouched bowls and steep couloirs without the usual uphill effort. Accommodation is provided at Flora Handüzü Bungalows, nestled in the valley with mountain views and a traditional Black Sea atmosphere. The experience includes professional mountain guidance, round-trip transfers from Rize-Artvin Airport, and half-board lodging, making it suitable for those seeking focused freeride terrain in Türkiye’s less crowded winter landscapes.

Please Note

  • Limited mobility accessible
  • Important Details & Local ContextSnow Quality: Handüzü is famous for its "Sea Effect" snow. Similar to Japan, the proximity to the Black Sea creates high-moisture air that hits the cold peaks, resulting in massive accumulations of deep, stable powder.
  • The "Flora" Comfort: Unlike high-altitude base camps, the Flora Handüzü Bungalows provide a touch of luxury. You aren't just sleeping in the mountains; you’re experiencing modern comfort with underfloor heating and panoramic windows—essential for drying out gear after a deep day.
  • Safety First: The Kaçkars are serious mountains. Our guides monitor snow stability and weather windows hourly. We reserve the right to change routes to ensure the safest and highest-quality riding experience.
