Itinerary

Step 1

Your first destination is the legendary ancient city of Ephesus — one of Turkey’s most magnificent archaeological treasures. Once a thriving hub of the Ionian League, Ephesus stood as a major port and commercial center on the western shores of Asia Minor, near present-day Izmir.

Step 2

Your second stop is the sacred House of the Virgin Mary, nestled in the serene Aladağ Mountains, just five miles from ancient Ephesus. According to tradition, Mary journeyed to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and spent the final years of her life here until her passing in 48 A.D. Recognized as a holy site, it was declared a place of pilgrimage by the Archbishop of Izmir in 1892. Since then, it has drawn visitors from around the world — including Pope Paul VI, who came here to pray on July 26, 1967.

Step 3

We will visit the Basilica of St. John the Apostle, a sacred site steeped in history and faith. It is believed that St. John the Evangelist spent his final years in the region around Ephesus and was buried on the southern slope of Ayasuluk Hill. His tomb lies beneath the central dome of the basilica, making it one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the Byzantine era.

During our visit, we will also enjoy a panoramic view of the Temple of Artemis—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—and the beautiful Isabey Mosque, a masterpiece of Seljuk architecture. As we explore, we will uncover the fascinating stories and cultural heritage that connect these remarkable landmarks.
