Activity
Your private driver will pick you up in the morning from your Athens hotel, the airport, or the Piraeus port, and you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Delphi—one of Greece’s most significant ancient sites.
-
Activity
We’ll begin our journey along the national highway toward northern Greece, passing through the plains of Thiva and the town of Levadia. Before long, we’ll ascend the slopes of Mount Parnassus, leading us to the legendary site of Delphi.
-
Activity
We’ll continue to the ancient site of Delphi, a renowned Panhellenic sanctuary dedicated to Apollo. Once home to the famous oracle, Delphi was regarded as the “navel” — the very center of the world. Today, it stands as a powerful symbol of Greek cultural unity. Its stunning setting offers breathtaking, tranquil views of the surrounding mountains.
-
Activity
On-site, you can explore the mystical Temple of Apollo, where the Pythia delivered her prophecies, as well as the ancient theater and the stadium.
Please note that a guided tour of the archaeological site is not included; however, you can hire a licensed state guide on-site for an additional fee. -
Activity
The site also features a museum housing remarkable artifacts, including the famous Charioteer and the Gold and Ivory statue. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy lunch in the modern village of Delphi, overlooking the stunning mountains of Phocis. The site also has a museum where you will find the famous charioteer and Gold Ivory statue. Then we will set out for lunch at the current village of Delphi while viewing the mountains of Fokis. rephrase
-
Activity
We’ll then continue our journey through the mountains, avoiding the national highway to experience the authentic Greek countryside. Passing through the towns of Lamia, Trikala, and Karditsa, we’ll arrive in Kalabaka—a charming town nestled at the foot of the magnificent Meteora rocks. After checking in at your hotel, you’ll have time to enjoy an evening stroll or savor a local dinner.
Day 2 The next morning
-
Activity
From the Breathtaking Meteora Back to Athens
-
we’ll set out to explore the monasteries and take a closer look at the awe-inspiring “holy rocks.” Perched high above the ground—hence the name Meteora, meaning “suspended in the air”—this site is home to one of the largest and most significant complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries still active today. Meteora’s blend of natural splendor and spiritual heritage makes it a truly unique destination among the world’s great landmarks.
-
Activity
Optional Visit: Stop at the Monastery of Roussanou for a different perspective of the surrounding cliffs and nearby monasteries. From there, follow the path leading to the upper main road, where you’ll discover a hidden panoramic viewpoint—perfect for walking on the bare rocks and taking in the breathtaking scenery.
-
Activity
Optional Visit: The Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos is one of the few female monasteries in Meteora. While the exact date of its construction is unknown, evidence suggests it was built in the 15th century. The monastery’s Catholicon is adorned with beautiful frescoes, created in 1560.
-
Activity
Visit the Great Meteoron Monastery, dedicated to the Transfiguration, which is the largest and most renowned of the Meteora monasteries.
-
Activity
We will visit the historic site where, a decade after the Battle of Marathon, King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans made their legendary stand against the Persian army.
-
Activity
Optional Visit: In the historical center, you can experience a 3D film that takes you on a journey through time, immersing you in the presence of those who bravely sacrificed their freedom, many of whom fell to foreign conquerors.
-
Concluding the visit
you will admire the imposing statue of King Leonidas, standing proudly opposite Kolonos Hill—the very ground where the valiant Spartans drew their last breath, immortalizing their courage and sacrifice in history.
-
