Itinerary

Itinerary:

Embark on a spectacular full day adventure into the heart of Bolivia’s most iconic landscape: the dazzling Salar de Uyuni. This journey offers an unforgettable exploration of surreal natural wonders, cultural insights, and otherworldly scenery.

Your day begins with a visit to the Train Cemetery, a hauntingly beautiful graveyard of rusting locomotives that once connected Bolivia’s mining towns to the world. It's a photographer’s dream and a unique introduction to the region's history.

Next, stop at the small village of Colchani, where you’ll witness the traditional salt extraction process and browse charming local handicrafts made from—you guessed it—salt.

Then, venture into the shimmering white expanse of the Salar de Uyuni. Marvel at the salt sculptures, the Ojos de Sal (natural brine springs bubbling through the salt crust), and the famous Dakar Monument—a tribute to the iconic rally that once raced across this desert. Nearby, the Plaza de las Banderas, a colorful display of flags from around the world, adds a vibrant human touch to the stark white landscape.

You’ll also see the first Salt Hotel, now a museum, entirely built from salt blocks—a quirky and impressive architectural feat.

One of the highlights of the day is the visit to Isla Incahuasi, a rocky island covered in giant cacti, rising like a mirage from the salt flat. From the top, enjoy panoramic views that stretch endlessly in every direction, offering one of the most surreal landscapes on Earth.

Sunset at the Salar: The day culminates with a breathtaking sunset, where the sky and the salar merge, creating a magical view that will leave you speechless.

Return to Uyuni: After a day filled with adventure and stunning landscapes, you’ll head back to Uyuni in the afternoon, with unforgettable memories of one of Bolivia’s most incredible destinations. Drop-off at the bus terminal or the center of Uyuni.
