Itinerary
Step 1
Client pick-up at your accommodation and travel towards Barcelos
In Barcelos
we immerse ourselves in the heart of minhoto craftsmanship and the legend of the Galo de Barcelos. We visit the historic center, with highlights to the Paço dos Condes, the medieval ruins and the Torre da Porta Nova, today a ceramic museum. We tour the Largo do Apoio and the Matriz Church, where history and faith cross. If it is a fair day (Thursday), we experience the vibrant Mercado de Barcelos, one of the largest and most traditional in the country, full of local products and crafts. We also took advantage of to know the heritage linked to the traditional olaria, and to taste the local sweets. An authentic and cultural moment, in one of the most genuine cribs of Minho.
In Ponte de Lima
the oldest village in Portugal, we will discover the perfect harmony between history, wine and landscape. We start with a stroll through the charming historic centre, where the iconic Roman-Medieval bridge crosses the serene river Lima. We admire the centuries-old churches, medieval towers, and the blooming gardens that beautify the village. We visited the Largo de Camões, the heart of local life, and we walked traditional sidewalk streets with regional products stores.
Step 4
Free lunch
In Viana do Castelo
a city of sea and mountain, we start by the imposing Monte de Santa Luzia, where the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus offers one of Portugal’s most stunning panoramic views — over the Lima River, the city and the Atlantic. We descend to the historic center, full of Manueline, Baroque and revivalist facades, and explore the elegant Plaza da República, with its Renaissance fountain, the old Paços do Concelho and the Church of Misericordia. We stroll through pedestrian streets full of life and tradition, where the spirit of the feasts of the Lady of Agony is felt. If the weather allows, we visit the Museum of Dress or make a short walk through the marginal and the river foz. A city rich in identity, combining heritage, nature and tradition with great minhota authenticity.
