Itinerary
Villa d'Este
Stop 2
After visiting Villa d'Este, drive to Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana), which is only about a 10-minute drive from the villa. Villa Adriana is a massive complex of ruins and gardens built by Emperor Hadrian as a retreat. The villa is vast, so you’ll need to focus on the key highlights in the time you have. Take a look at the Canopus and Serapeum - a large pool surrounded by colonnades, evocative of ancient Egyptian and Greek architecture and the Maritime Theatre - a circular building surrounded by water, where Hadrian could retreat in peace.
Stop 3
The main square of Tivoli, with cafes and shops. Enjoy a coffee or gelato while taking in the view of the Roman countryside.
