Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu
Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu is an unequaled exquisite temple located on top of Doi Kong Mu hill, offering Mae Hong Son’s best views. Two giant Burmese-style lion statues welcome travelers at the base of the overgrown staircase to the top. The ashes of the ruler who ordered the temple construction and the ashes of one of the Buddha’s main devotees are held in the two white chedis. The chedis are set on fire at night.
Burmese Temples
Wat Chong Klang and Wat Chong Kham are Burmese-style temples situated next to each other in the city. A recreation park for locals encompasses the temples. Meander around and enjoy the outdoor market to buy traditional sweet snacks, hill tribe handicrafts, and textiles.

Pang Tong Royal Development Project
The unequaled protected park on the coasts of the Huai Pang Tong Reservoir is not only a stunning natural area but also a spot where hill tribes live and grow various plants, including Chinese pearsm and avocados. The chilly climate is also ideal for increasing hydrangea and roses, which most locals do to sell at the markets. Namtok Mae Surin National Park
Situated near Mae Hong Son town, Namtok Mae Surin National Park is a 399-square-kilometer park housing caves, waterfalls, and the Doi Pui Mountain. Mae Surin Falls is the park’s main waterfall and the highest in the country, with more than 100 m high.
Buat Luk Khaeo Festival
Buat Luk Khaeo is a yearly three-day festival at the beginning of April in honor of young boys set apart as novice monks.
