Haveli Hopping
Mandawa houses several Havelis like other towns in the Shekhawati region. There’s nothing special to do for Havelis; you need to listen to the art stories and open your eyes carefully to watch. Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, Jhunjhunwala Haveli, and Double Haveli are among the must-seeing Havelis you shouldn’t miss. However, there’re a handful of renowned Havelis beside these.
Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli
Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli is the most famous haveli characterized by statues of Shiva, the Hindu god, and Nandi, his bull, and traditional Rajasthani artwork.
Goenka Double Haveli
It depicts a desert life in its paintings. You’ll see camels and elephants on the façade, and paintings of men and women in traditional attire.
Murmuria Haveli
Murmuria Haveli is famous for its fascinating fresco collection portraying global things.
Bansidhar Newatia Haveli
Bansidhar Newatia portrays a unique picture of the modern world. You’ll find trains, airplanes, telephones, and other modern wonders on the frescoes.
Chokhani Double Haveli
Chokhani Double Haveli differs from other Havelis: you’ll find no usual colorful touch in its interesting artwork. Soothe your eyes with intricate floral arabesque and exquisite sandstone.
Harlalka Well
Harlalka Well is a nice and rural site located a few steps away from the Murmuria Haveli. You’ll be absorbed in the beautiful minarets and their antique and neglected appeal. You can go up the camel ramp in the direction of the well, but be very cautious as there’s no guard to protect you from falling in the deep well, which still is full.
Mandawa Fort
Mandawa Fort is now a splendid heritage hotel under the name of Castle Mandawa Hotel located in the center of the main town area. The red sandstone structure with its giant walls, pillars, turrets, and domes can be seen at any distance. You can choose a night stay at the castle or take a day tour around the vast gardens, courtyards, and illuminated hallways.
Camel Safari
Rajasthan is closely associated with camel safari, and Mandawa is the best destination to do this. The adventure tours through the haveli streets of Mandawa. Tourists can also spend a night in a tent.
Enjoy Local Cuisine
Your trip would be unfinished if you didn’t try the food here. Don’t ever miss out on the mouthwatering food in Rajasthan and Mandawa. Enjoy the landscape while having great Rajasthani food in the rooftop restaurants.
Shop at Local Markets
The Shekhawati region is famous for its unique form of artwork. You’ll find unequaled lac bangles and a kind of leather footwear here. Wood carvings, paintings, and dye fabrics are other artifacts provided in the local markets.
