Paros Archaeological Museum
The museum foundation dates back to 1960, when a large chamber was built next to the High School. It houses relics of ancients preserved in the cells of the Katapoliani monastery. However, it’s not a big museum, but it boasts prominent exhibits. It’s the best place for history-lovers to explore through the antiquities.
Church Panagia Ekatontapiliani
Panagia Ekatontapiliani, also named “church of 100 doors”, is one of Greece’s most significant and the best well-preserved Christian churches, is located near the. According to Paros’ tradition, St. Helen built the structure in the middle of the 4th century. There was a chapel precisely at the same place dating back before the 4th century. In the yard, there is also a baptistery and the cells of the monks.
Frankish Castle
Constructed in the 13th century by Marcus Sanudus, the Frankish castle is the highest point of Paros. Now, you can only see one of the castle walls remaining. It was built by the material taken from ancient monuments existing nearby, such as the temple of goddess Athena, Paros’ old town’s protector.
Ancient Cemetery
Located in front of the sea just past the Paros port, the ancient cemetery is one of the Cyclades’ most famous sites. It was excavated in 1983 when several tombs of various types and ages were discovered, ranging from the 8th century B.C. to the 3rd A.D. Soothe your eyes with large marble tombstones and various pedestals of different periods. Today, the ancient cemetery is preserved as an archaeological park showcasing interesting relics and early excavation photographs.
Livadia Beach
The central beach of Paros is located only 700 meters from the port of Parikia. Livadia is a very long beach separated into different sections, spotted with umbrellas and bars. Meander around the main street along the beach and enjoy the freshness and locality of grocery stores, taverns, cafes, hotels, and mini markets. This sandy beach with shallow clear water has almost no waves because of its location.
Krios Beach
Krios Beach lies in the bay of Parikia, is a stunning and long sandy beach with azure crystalline water surrounded by a bay that sufficiently protects the beach from strong summer winds. The beach provides tourists with umbrellas and sundecks and is home to small taverns serving food and drinks.
