Cameron Run Regional Park
Cameron Run Regional Park is situated on Eisenhower Avenue, near Cameron Run, delivering various recreation facilities like Great Waves Water Park. Being in the pool, you can catch a wave, twist, and turn down four-story water slides and play with your friends in the shallow waters. It’s also home to a massive enclosed play site for children housing slides, towers, and more all atop, a foam play pool.
Torpedo Factory Art Center
Established in 1974 in an old munitions plant houses various artworks, including painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, stained glass, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture on three floors. The Torpedo Factory Art Center attracts around 500,000 tourists every year. Gadsby’s Tavern Museum
Gadsby’s Tavern Museum is situated in Old Town Alexandria, next to many stores, restaurants, other museums, and historic sites. The museum houses two structures, dating back to the 18th century built by John Wise, consisting of 1785 tavern and the City Tavern and Hotel, built in 1792. It was the center of local political, business, and social life.
Carlyle House Historic Park
The historic Carlyle House was built in 1753 by British merchant John. It quickly became a center of social and political life in Alexandria and gained a foothold in history when British General Braddock made this site as his headquarters in 1755. The two-story house, made of wood or brick, with balanced windows, chimneys, gardens, and landscaping around the property, is architecturally unique in Alexandria as the only stone, 18th-century Palladian-style house.
Jones Point Park
Located right off the Potomac River, Jones Point Park is in the south of Old Town Alexandria. It played an essential role in the City of Alexandria’s history as it was one of the largest centers for manufacturing, shipping, and transportation in the nation. Today, the park is home to playgrounds, basketball courts, and multi-use fields that offer up sports and playtime opportunities. At the same time, fishing piers and paddle launches allow visitors to enjoy the Potomac River. You can also walk through a gravel interpretive path and discover the park’s human and natural history and the surrounding region.
