Things To Do in Bangkok

The Grand Palace
Also known as Royal Palace, the Grand Palace is rated the first visited tourist destination in Bangkok. The palace is situated on the Chao Phraya River’s edge, encompassed by a long 1.9 km wall. Once the Ayutthaya and Thonburi kingdom collapsed, the complex was built, housing over 100 buildings, palaces, and pavilions. In the past, it was the residence of Thailand’s sovereigns; but now, it’s only used for official ceremonies. The Grand Palace welcomes tourists with a jade well-revered Buddha statue placed in the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

Wat Pho
Wat Pho, situated near the Grand Palace, is renowned as one of Thailand’s ancient Buddhist temples. It houses a 45-m long and 15-m high reclining statue of Buddha, representing Buddha’s death. You’ll also find the Buddha Gallery with 394 golden Buddhas, the Phra Ubosoft, and the 4 royal Chedis in colorful ceramics.

Wat Arun
Wat Arun, placed on the other side of the Chao Phraya River, is famous for its 82 m tower decorated with colorful porcelain. It’s encompassed by four smaller mosaics-decorated prangs. Don’t miss out on visiting the Wat Arun in the evening and soak up in the illuminating sunset.

Chatuchak Weekend Market
Whether a shopaholic or not, Chatuchak Weekend Market is a must-visit attraction, you shouldn’t miss. Thailand’s largest market houses over 15000 stands offering clothes, shoes, souvenirs, jewelry sections, and a lot more. And, a large food court! Meander along the Chatuchak Market to glimpse the local culture from close and enjoy a family gathering and picnic by the lakeside at the large park near the market.

Wat Saket / The Golden Mount
The Golden Mount Temple is constructed on top of a hill offering a stunning 360-degree view over Bangkok. Climb a few steps to see the city under your foot and soak up in the beauty of statues and fountains along the path.

Khao San Road
Your trip to Bangkok remains unfinished if you miss the Khao San Road. Renowned as one of Bangkok’s leading tourist destination and cosmopolitan area, it’s a walking street along with Wat Pho or the Grand Palace. People walk along the Khao San Road and have a drink at multiple bars and restaurants.

Chinatown
Don’t ever miss out on taking a stroll in Bangkok’s Chinatown, where your heart will really experience the colors, smells, and noises of China. Meander along the alleys and taste Chinese cuisine at the shopping stalls and street vendors.

Lumphini Park
Lumphini Park, delivering the largest green space, is a getaway from Bangkok’s noise and crowds, where you can meander along the landscaped trails and around the lake. Absorb the scenery and tranquility and enjoy playgrounds and swan-shaped pedal boats. Watch out for Malay lizards; however, they’re not dangerous.

Jim Thompson’s House
The best destination for art enthusiasts is the Jim Thompson’s House, owned by an American art collector and businessman. Home to the Thai silks and many artworks were constructed from some sections of ancient wooden houses fetched to Bangkok from Ayutthaya.
