Enjoy snowshoeing in the Arctic with the guides knowing the best nature spots to explore! Snowshoeing is great fun and easy to learn. Lucky Ranch crew has a professional touch to find the best spots for snowshoeing in each day. Around Lucky Ranch there are many exciting places to explore, for example, Soutaja fell, lake Pyhäjärvi or Pyhä-Luosto National park.

You only need essential winter clothing and good shoes, other equipment you will get from us. We will do a nice trek in the surrounding nature, and by using snowshoes, we can reach untouched parts in the forest. During the trip, you can enjoy the silence and beauty of winter nature. There are many exciting things to observe, and along the way, your guide will tell you facts and stories about the Arctic nature and animals.

Optional:

Would you like to learn to cook over an open fire? You can book an extra Experience in preparing a 3-course Lappish dinner of local ingredients with a wilderness chef. While cooking, you will learn about local food and Lappish food culture. In the end, we enjoy a tasty dinner in an authentic atmosphere together.

Step 1

Depart Nairobi hotel around 6am morning drive through lush tea and coffee estates. To Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary provides a lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. The sanctuary currently has more than 30 resident chimpanzees in natural enclosures. During your visit, you’ll learn about the resident chimpanzees, and have a chance to spot them as the approach a feeding platform. Next you’ll enjoy a game drive across the open plains of the nearby Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The reserve is home to reticulated giraffes, zebras, African elephants, cape buffalo, warthogs, lions, leopards, and many, many more, including over 500 bird species. Lunch (at your own expense) Afterward, you’ll head to visit a rhino homestead, see an endangered black and white rhino.The tour concludes around 6:30pm with a drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or airport

If small children are joining the trip, we can take Lappish sled with us where they can sit if they get too tired for walking.
It is possible to combine snow surfing into this adventure. Please note that for snow surfing, you need to have valid insurance covering the activity. Lucky Ranch is not able to offer insurance to snow surfing. You are joining at your own risk. Children under 18 years old can participate with parents or caretakers. This adventure is suitable for beginners too.
Lucky Ranch is located near Pyhä-Luosto National park at the lake Pyhäjärvi, only 10 minutes drive from the year-round activity resort and ski resort Pyhätunturi. You reach us by car, or when booking a tour with us, you can book pick up (return transfer) either from Pyhätunturi or Luosto.
The nearest airport is in Rovaniemi, approximately 1,5 – 2 hours' drive to Pyhätunturi, and the nearest railway station is in Kemijärvi from where there is a bus connection to Pyhätunturi.
