Navigation on Lake Argentino is one of the few ways to approach some more distant and inaccessible glaciers, having the opportunity to travel inside the catamaran or through the balconies and the deck, which allows you to take wonderful photos. The landing at the Spegazzini Base, a piece of land in the middle of the vastness of Lake Argentino and the field of Glaciers. Also, it allows hiking with the most spectacular views of the National Park.

Tour Plan
Puerto Madryn
The tour begins when we meet our guides and instructors at a meeting point in the city center of Puerto Madryn. From here, we will cross to the beach where we will board the boat that will take us to the point where we will find the colony of Sea Lions.
Punta Loma Protected Natural Area
During navigation, we will be able to enjoy the incredible views of the beach, the cliffs and the city of Puerto Madryn. In the 25 minute trip we can also see numerous types of sea birds and even, depending on the season, whales and dolphins.We will disembark on a small beach in the Punta Loma Protected Natural Area where we will receive a theoretical instruction on the snorkeling technique, handling and behavior within the protected area, buoyancy (it is important to understand that with the neoprene suit you do not need an extra flotation device since with this we will float), and our behavior within the area, to understand that we are visitors in the animal's habitat.
Snorkeling
Even before entering the sea, the sea lions will surprise us with their heads very close to the boat, expectant, seeking to discover who will be the first person to enter the water to play with them.Once we are all fully equipped, we will begin to enter the water and little by little, the sea lions will begin to approach us, almost without fear and with great curiosity. Although we will not be able to touch them, we will be able to observe that they will quickly continue with their habitual life around us and including us in their movements. The snorkeling activity will last approximately 45 minutes.We will return to the coast in the same boat, arriving in the city of Puerto Madryn.

El Calafate
Starting at 7 AM, a transfer will pick you up at your hotel and we will travel in a comfortable bus to the Port of Punta Bandera.
El Calafate - Argentino Lake navegation
The navigation will begin on the North Arm of Lake Argentino at 9 AM. You will navigate between the large icebergs that emerge from the front of the Upsala Glacier, to enter the Spegazzini Canal having a panoramic view of the different glaciers, being able to take pictures at the different stops to observe the ice blocks. During navigation, you will be able to observe the blocks of ice from all angles and take the best photos.
The landing will be made at La Base Spegazzini to make a trek through the path of 300 meters of the forest to the Spegazzini Refuge, It is accessible and does not represent complexity since it is done on firm ground. There will be a post at different stations (Glaciology - History - Fauna and Flora) with viewpoints overlooking the entire Bay of Los Glaciares.
Once in the Refuge you will be able to enjoy the gastronomy, the shop and an incredible panoramic view from its rooms and from the outside (Deck & Terrace).
Return to El Calafate
Once back on top of the ship, the second part of the navigation will take place until returning to Punta Bandera around 4 PM. We will return to El Calafate at approximately 5 PM.

Snorkeling with sea lions off the coast of Punta Loma was an exhilarating experience that I won’t forget anytime soon. The transport from Puerto Madryn was smooth, making the journey to the site easy, and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring everyone felt comfortable in the water. My only minor concern was that the time spent actually snorkeling felt a bit short, but the playful sea lions were definitely worth it!

Exploring the vibrant underwater world near Punta Loma was truly unforgettable for us. Upon arriving at the meeting point in Puerto Madryn, we were whisked away on a comfortable boat, where we eagerly anticipated our adventure. The moment we slipped into the crystal-clear waters, we were greeted by curious sea lions swimming around us, their playful energy was simply contagious.
One memorable moment came when a particularly bold sea lion decided to swim right up to us, eyeing us curiously as we floated together—it felt like we were in a wildlife documentary! As exhilarating as the experience was, we did feel that the tour could have benefited from a bit more guidance during the snorkeling, especially for less experienced swimmers. Still, the friendliness of the crew and the breathtaking scenery made it all worthwhile.
Overall, we left the water with smiles on our faces and an appreciation for the incredible marine life that calls this region home.
