Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of granite approximately 180 m high. The time allocate for the location includes travelling time (3 Hours ) also.

Sigiriya Museum was established in 2009 with funding from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency. The museum boasts an impressive collection of exhibits that belong to various periods in history - ranging from the prehistoric period to the reign of King Kashyapa.
