Tour Plan
Mercado Artesanal de Cafayate
You will start the day by being picked-up in your hotel in Cafayate to begin this adventure, passing through the Mercado Artesanal de Cafayate (Cafayate's craft market).
The Amphitheatre
On the way to the natural reserve, we will be able to see multiple landscapes and landforms with variety of colors: The first is The Amphitheater: a natural, semi-covered rock formation with perfect acoustics that fascinates those who want to test their vocal chords. We will be here for 30 minutes.
Garganta del Diablo
The second stop is La Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat): the most famous rock formation. The immense walls of reddish rock form a vertical tube similar to the devil's mouth itself. We will be here for 30 minutes to take pictures and be amazed by the scenery.
Quebrada Rio de Las Conchas
Then, we will get into direct contact with nature and it's hard work, while we continue our way to discover magnificent details of its geological formations. Among the most interesting points to visit, La Punilla, an area eroded by natural agents, which resulted in strange formations, Los Castillos, towering reddish rocks of the Mesozoic / Cenozoic era that, as a result of erosion, acquired its form, reminiscent of a castle.
La Yesera
Finally, we will reach La Yesera: an important fossil fish site. The tour has the characteristic of combining a car ride with small hiking of 40 minutes.
End of the tour
After visiting the most important points, we will take you back to your hotel.

Exploring the stunning landscapes during our four-hour adventure was a highlight of our trip; we were constantly in awe of the vibrant rock formations and dramatic vistas. The drive to the trailhead was comfortable, and our guide shared fascinating insights about the area’s geological history along the way. One small downside was that the hike felt a bit rushed at times, but overall, we loved soaking in the natural beauty and taking plenty of photos.
