This private full-day tour takes you from Warsaw to Majdanek Concentration Camp Museum, located on the outskirts of Lublin. Established by Nazi Germany in 1941, Majdanek functioned as both a concentration and extermination camp. Due to the rapid advance of the Soviet army in 1944, the camp was captured almost intact, making it the best-preserved Holocaust camp in Europe.

Traveling with a knowledgeable, English-speaking guide allows you to understand not only the historical facts, but also the broader context of Nazi occupation, the Holocaust in occupied Poland, and the experiences of victims and survivors. Majdanek is visited far less frequently than Auschwitz, which creates space for a calm, unhurried, and deeply respectful experience.

The visit focuses on authentic locations: original barracks, gas chambers, crematoria, execution sites, barbed wire fencing, and guard towers. Exhibitions inside preserved buildings provide historical documents, photographs, and personal testimonies. You are given time to walk, reflect, and absorb the site at your own pace.

Tour Plan

Pickup in Warsaw
The guide will pick you up directly from your hotel or apartment at 08.00 am. Please remember to have your breakfast before and take the clothes appropriate to the weather forecasts. We pick up our guests from all the Warsaw hotels and apartments accessible by car.

Transfer to Lublin
Drive to Lublin takes around 2 hours 30 minutes. It’s a chance to experience the Polish countryside and ask your guide all the questions you can imagine. He’s your host, and his passion is to make you understand Poland, its history and its spirit. So don’t miss that chance.

Majdanek Concentration and Extermination Camp - Museum
After the hotel pick-up, your guide drives towards Lublin, approximately 190 kilometres from Warsaw (a 2.5-hours drive). The stirring museum – Majdanek Concentration Camp,  was a Nazi German concentration and extermination camp established on Lublin’s outskirts during Poland’s German occupation in World War II. The camp, which operated from October 1, 1941, until July 22, 1944, was captured nearly intact because the Soviet Red Army’s rapid advance prevented the SS from destroying most of its infrastructure. This site remains the best-preserved extermination camp of the Holocaust. It seems to be overshadowed by the Auschwitz camp museum, which is, sadly, overcrowded and has become a destination for mass tourism nowadays. Majdanek museum is a place one can visit without rush, in quiet and with respect to those who ended their lives there.

Lublin Old Town
After the visit to Majdanek guide will take you to the Old Town of Lublin. This city thrived as a centre of trade and commerce due to its strategic location between Vilnius and Kraków; the inhabitants had the privilege of free trade in Lithuania’s Grand Duchy. The Lublin Parliament session of 1569 created a real union between the Crown of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, thus forming the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Lublin was a royal city of the Crown Kingdom of Poland, and for centuries, the town has flourished as a centre of culture and higher learning, with Kraków, Warsaw, Poznań, and Lwów. Although Lublin was not spared from severe destruction during World War II, its picturesque and historic Old Town has been preserved in outstanding condition.

Lunch break at Lublin Old Town
You can choose one of many restaurants in Lublin Old Town, or leave this choice to your guide. The cost of the lunch is not included in the tour price.

Transfer to Warsaw
It’s the next chance to chat with your guide. And don’t worry - these 2.5 hours will pass quickly.

Drop off in Warsaw
It’s time to say goodbye. Pick a place, and your guide will drop you off there.

Our visit to the Majdanek camp was both haunting and enlightening, offering a deep dive into the region’s history that we won’t soon forget. While the private tour allowed us to explore at our own pace, the lengthy drive from Warsaw felt a bit tiring after such an intense experience.

Exploring the remnants of the camp was a profound experience for our family, offering a deep glimpse into history. While the guided portion in Lublin was insightful, we felt a bit rushed at times, leaving us wanting more time to reflect.

Traveling from Warsaw to Lublin for this private tour offered a deep dive into history that was both moving and informative. The drive was smooth, with comfortable transportation that made the lengthy journey feel shorter than expected. While the guide was knowledgeable and engaging, there were moments when I wished for a bit more time to reflect at the camp itself, but overall, it was a valuable experience that left a lasting impression.
