About This Tour

Enjoy a thrilling adventure in the high-altitude realms of Peru while taking on this iconic peak.

Nevado Pisco (5752 m) is a great option for those with little mountaineering experience and high mountaineering curiosity. The ascent is not too steep and is only moderately difficult. And during the way, the views of the Cordillera Blanca are truly magnificent. For example, you'll see Mount Huascarán (6768 m), the highest mountain in Peru.

On this 3-day program, we will set off from Huaraz. We will climb gently to make sure that you have time to properly acclimatize to the altitude. Furthermore, this will give us a chance to admire our beautiful surroundings. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Keep in mind that although you don't need technical climbing experience to join this program, you do need a good fitness level. So start training! Of course, we will be there to help and guide you.

Day 1 #1 Huaraz - Cebollapampa 3850 m / 12,631 ft - Base camp 4676 m / 15,341 ft

You are picked up at your accommodation and begin the journey with a spectacular scenic drive along the Callejon de Huaylas Valley and then into the Huascaran National Park, past the turquoise Llanganuco Lakes to Cebollapampa 3900m (2½ hours drive).

Day 2 Base camp - Nevado Pisco Summit 5752 m / 18,871 ft - Base camp

Summit Day. We leave very early. The ground is uneven and rocky, and the hike commences with a steep but short hike up to the top of the moraine wall and then a short but tricky descent down the other side. The rest of the way is a mixture of good path with some demanding climbing over moraine rocks and loose ground until we reach the glacier where we put on crampons and rope up (3 hours hike).  Most of the way is not very steep or technically difficult although the altitude does make it a challenge. Depending on the season, there can be some short steep sections or hard ice or possibly a crevasse to navigate around. We try to arrive on the summit to see the sunrise. About 5 hours to the broad summit where there is plenty of room to walk around, appreciate the amazing surrounding mountains and take photos.

From the summit we enjoy panoramic views of the highest mountains in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca Range,  Huascarán (6768m) highest tropical mountain in the world, Chopicalqui (6354m), Huandoy (6160m), Pirámide (5885m), Artesonraju (6025m). We descend the same route back to Base Camp. 12 hours activity.

Day 3 #3 Base camp – Cebollapampa - Yuracoral 3800 m / 12,467 ft - Huaraz

After having breakfast, Walk down to Cebollapampa for 1½ hours or we make a traverse a long a good but rocky path before we climb up to a view point at 5100m. From there we descend to Lake 69 and then we take Demanda Valley down to Cebollapampa where our vehicle is waiting for us to take us back to Huaraz. 6 hours walk.
