Itinerary
Upon arriving at Kingfisher's information desk in Virpazar, one of our team members will assist you. They will verify your reservation vouchers and help you navigate the next steps smoothly.
Virpazar is a picturesque village situated on the shores of Lake Skadar in Montenegro. Stunning mountain ranges, lush green forests, and crystal-clear waters surround it. The town is famous for its scenic boat tours, traditional cuisine, and rustic architecture. Virpazar is also a popular destination for bird watching, hiking, and wine tasting, as it is in the heart of Montenegro's wine region. This lovely destination is perfect for those seeking to escape the city life and immerse themselves in the natural beauty and tranquillity of the Montenegrin countryside. Take advantage of your trip and plan to spend some time in Virpazar before or after your cruise to explore this charming destination fully. We, as locals, can assure you that the sunsets in Virpazar and the surrounding area are breathtaking.
Now that all the necessary arrangements are made, we can begin our Lake Skadar adventure immediately!
Depart from the village harbour and glide down a tranquil river canal, surrounded by swaying reeds and willows, while fully immersing yourself in the region's natural splendour.
Admire the marvellous sight of the faraway Albanian Alps (so-called Accursed Mountains) and Vranjina, the nearest island that defiantly emerges from the sparkling waters of one of the largest lakes in Southern Europe. The view awaits you when you exit the river canal.
We will make a turn left and pass under the Tanki Rt bridge. Within moments, as we sail through the meadows of water chestnuts, you will discover the 18th-century Lesendro fortress, famously known as "Njegošes sorrow".
Lesendro is a historic fortress located in Montenegro on the shores of Lake Skadar. It was built in the 18th century during the reign of Prince-Bishop Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, a prominent figure in Montenegrin history and literature. Aside from its historical significance, Lesendro is also renowned for its abundance of birdlife. The area surrounding the fortress is a popular spot for birdwatching, with cormorants, herons, and gulls among the many species you can see. The reason for this lies in the proximity of the Morača River, the largest tributary of Lake Skadar and an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area.
Get ready to be stunned by the picturesque sight beyond the three islets - thousands of white and yellow water lilies with their large, floating, dark green leaves.
Cruise through the picturesque Pavlova Strana Fjord. Taste the wine from Montenegro's famous wine cellar, rakija, and other local delicacies as you discover all the beautiful corners of the Crnojevića River.
Take advantage of the breathtaking views that await you on the return journey. Take your time to immerse yourself in the unspoiled wilderness and take a refreshing dip in the fresh, deep-blue waters of Lake Skadar, surrounded by stunning scenery. Afterwards, make your way back to Virpazar.
